Chimere

A feathers alcove for the Hôtel de Crillon

Eric Charles-Donatien has taken part in the project to reopen the Hôtel de Crillon. At the request of Aline d'Amman and Tristan Auer, he has designed the decor for the alcove of the hair salon of the palace SPA.

Design

A transition between the garden and the window

"Chimera" is based on the integration of an atypical material into a specific area, forming a window and a transition between the hotel's botanical garden and the sober, elegant modernity of the hair salon. Eric has created a feature that combines integration and transition ... He has chosen to use his two favourite objects to do so: the feathers that he shapes, and the metal that he hammers until it "comes to life".

Matters

Flamboyance luxurious feathers

It is an ode to the same nature that the hotel's landscape gardener wished to be flourishing and free, an organic link between the flamboyant natural greenery and the zen-like purity of an alcove made of subtle materials. Without a break, the work of art unfolds between the two worlds. Eric worked on the ornament, the cornice, bas relief, classical structure, unfolding into a mineral decor that covers the venue like a canopy. Eric wanted to create like a peom in echo to the beautiful interior garden created Louis Benech.

A garden-jungle

A bird taking his flight

The sun-shaped rose window of the alcove stands out, light descending towards the person sitting on the sofa like a crown; the peacock's natural "scales" form the "decorative" set, blossoming like a bird spreading its wings along the walls. The bronze cock feathers lengthen to become metallic, almost alive, thus forming the frame. The artistic concept is to create an in-situ visual so that it perfectly integrates the venue, forming a scene in which the customer is the main character, "a vision as in the theatre, on several levels" with the jungle-like garden visible from the window.
